Yngve

Yngve is a contemporary reinterpretation of the iconic Dymling sofa designed by Yngve Ekström, one of Sweden’s most influential furniture designers. While respecting the character and proportions that made the original design distinctive, this version adapts the sofa to the expectations and lifestyles of today.
The most significant transformation lies in its dimensions. By increasing both the width and depth of the seating area, the sofa offers a more generous and relaxed sitting experience. Contemporary homes often demand furniture that accommodates longer periods of use—whether for conversation, reading, working, or simply unwinding—and Yngve responds to these needs with enhanced comfort without compromising its visual clarity.
The design brings together two traditions that share a deep appreciation for simplicity and craftsmanship. Influences from Japanese design can be seen in the sofa’s calm proportions, low profile, and emphasis on balance and restraint. These qualities are combined with the clean lines and functional elegance of Scandinavian modernism, creating a harmonious dialogue between East and North.
The result is a sofa that feels both familiar and contemporary: minimal yet inviting, refined yet comfortable. Yngve pays tribute to a design heritage while reimagining it for modern living, offering a timeless piece that balances aesthetics, functionality, and everyday comfort.
